Crazy Bear and Ragged Staff - Gallery - Space Vixens from Mars

I bumped into these ladies via the Society for Fantasy and Science Fiction Wargames (SFSFW) where Gary Mitchel, the author was promoting them shamelessly. However they are very nice figures dressed and armed in a cheesy SF way, we have GZG to thank for the figures.

The novels themselves are a loving pastiche of 'bad' science fiction from my childhood, this is not great literature but that's all part of its charm.

Their main opposition is a race called the Laeylandii which are mobile plants. I have some of the figures but haven't yet painted them up.

The Space Vixens investigate some strange ruins, the sort of thing they seem to be called on to do from time to time.

That's Lt Yoko Kurosawa at the top, probably the nicest figure in the set.  Below her is Helga von Schliecher and Marie-Clare LaCroix.  The uniforms are nicely reminiscent of Star Trek in its hey day and the weapons are very reminiscent of that period too.

Hannah Smith, who I've inadvertantly butched up by overdefining her muscles.

Moody night time shot but its the only half decent one of Sita Desai and Commander Melody Jackson that came out.  I'm particularly please with Sita as its not a bad subtle Asian skin tone.  Mind you I did have to do a repaint job on her as the first attempt was not good.  The Melody figure has a very flat face but looks much better in the flesh, as it were.

Hannah Smith, again a very broad faced figure but a nice one.  One good touch is that everyone with a drawn pistol has an empty holster.

Shona M'Benga who has benefitted from me painting about thirty Somalias just before I got to painting her.  I really lice the special 'ray gun - grease gun' blasters.

A close up of Yoko and Helga, look at the bone structure in Yoko's face, very nicely done.

Marie-Clare takes a breather against the pyramid.
